FAQs
Tutoring sessions take place face-to-face at your home. Group tutoring sessions (a maximum of 4 children) will take place at a local community venue in Weybridge – please get in touch for more details.
I offer one paid trial session before you commit to ongoing tutoring. This gives both you and your child the opportunity to see if tutoring with me is a good fit. During the trial session, I will carry out an informal assessment through games and activities. This allows me to get a clear idea of your child’s current starting points, identify areas where they may need support and begin to set targets for future sessions. If you would then like to go ahead, we can arrange regular tutoring sessions to follow.
Tutoring sessions last 50 minutes, unless otherwise specified at the time of booking. Each session includes 10 minutes revision and 40 minutes new teaching. Group tutoring sessions are 1 hour.
You can book and pay for a block of sessions in advance (monthly or half-termly) or pay-as-you-go at the end of each session. I accept cash or bank transfer.
Invoices will be sent at the beginning of each month, or half-term, for block payment bank transfers. Pay-as-you-go invoices will be sent within 48 hours of each session. All payments must be settled before the next lesson.

Things happen, and sometimes sessions need to be cancelled or moved. I would really appreciate 24 hours’ notice wherever possible, although I understand that sometimes this isn’t possible. Please make sure I am aware of the cancellation before the scheduled session start time.
Each student may cancel or rearrange one session per school term. If more than one session is cancelled during a term, the session fee will still be payable unless the session can be rescheduled to another mutually convenient time.
If a student fails to attend a session without prior notification, the full session fee will be payable.
If you have paid in advance and need to cancel a session due to exceptional circumstances, I will do my best to reschedule it. If this isn’t possible, I will refund the session fee.
Every child is different, so I adapt my teaching to suit each child’s individual needs, strengths and areas for development. I use a mixture of clear teaching, practical activities, games and carefully chosen resources to make learning engaging and purposeful. I also place a strong emphasis on revisiting and practising previously taught skills. Regular retrieval and repetition helps children to build confidence, strengthen their understanding and remember what they have learned over time, before applying these skills more independently.
I don’t offer discounts on individual tutoring sessions, but I do offer special arrangements for siblings who have back-to-back sessions.
Back-to-back sibling sessions: Instead of the usual 50-minute session, siblings can have a 60-minute session for £50 each. This gives them an extra 10 minutes of learning time at no additional cost.
Two shorter sessions: If 60 minutes feels too long for your children, I can also offer two 30-minute sessions for £60 in total. This can be a good option for younger children or those who benefit from shorter, more focused sessions.
